Happy Brushing
When we first started brushing Anya’s teeth, she had a heck of a time remembering to keep her mouth open. While I was on a trip to LA, Lauren found a cool way to get her to do so; namely, by declaring what the “O” says (hint: “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”).
Nothing lasts forever, and that didn’t. But I soon got Anya to keep her mouth open for extended periods of teeth brushing by having her sing with me. We would sing songs — mostly “Happy Birthday” — replacing each syllable with “Ahhhh”:
Ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhhh ahhh ahhh!
Ahhhhhnya finds this hilarious, and does a great job keeping her mouth wide open while singing during the brushing process. When I try to switch up the song, she says “NO! We have to sing Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh!”
Recently, I let her solo on the brushing tune. She sang as follows:
Ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhh
Ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhh AHHH ahhhh
Ahhhh ahhh AHHH AHHHH dear Ahhh Ahhh
Ahhh ahhh ahhhh ahhhh ahhhhhhh ahhhhh
The “dear” killed me.
