We have a kitty who isn't as happy as she was before the kids came. She takes a big pounding from the kids in the name of getting any attention possible. Pets are the baby until the real ones come and it is not easy to give the love they need. I think you guys are awesome for making that hard choice. So hard Lex. We had to find new homes for both of our pre-kid dogs, although years apart. One had to go when he started snapping at 2 year old Rory, and the other we just left recently when we moved cross country. It is sad, and it's not easy, but we know we made the right decisions in both cases. And we still get updates on Fiona, because she's living with the brother of one of my close friends. Oh, and when I was pregnant with Elliot, Rory knew he would be a boy, right from the beginning, because, "I already HAVE a sister!" ;) I’m sorry you had to find a new home for Charlie.
